Look at that beautiful cover! It encapsulates this terrifying tale so well! I would like to start out by saying, this is Tim Meyer’s best yet. THE SWITCH HOUSE delivers the goods while firing away on all cylinders. This is a psychological horror story that gives HEREDITARY a run for its money. I really dig THE SWITCH HOUSE. I think it’s one of the best books so far this year. Certainly the best I’ve read so far this year, and I’ve read some really great books.
CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve won a role on LET’S SWITCH HOUSES! Your life is going to change. We promise. Your dreams will come true. Everything you’ve ever wanted, we have it. This is a chance of a lifetime. Come inside. Switch with us.
Angela and Terry return home after spending months away filming a TV show called LET’S SWITCH HOUSES! Upon arrival, they find their house in complete disrepair. The integrity of the house remains unchanged. There’s something not quite right about their residence. Something’s different.
I had to question my own sanity as I read this book in one gulp. Given the premise and the setup, I had no idea where this story was going. I knew that the main character, Angela, was interesting and I needed to know more about her. She has so much depth and I had so much empathy for her.
The scenes in THE SWITCH HOUSE jump from the page, grabbing you by the collar and pulling you in. This book contains several scares. The unease sits with you from the beginning. THE SWITCH HOUSE will give you goosebumps. It will make you glance over your shoulder from time-to-time. The tension will keep you turning the page.
Some of the scenes burn into your retinas. You really can’t unsee them. This book reminds me of Kealan Patrick Burke in a lot of ways. This would make one helluva movie. Tim Meyer has come a long way with his writing. He has honed his craft. He has found his voice. The writing style is great, too.
Don’t even get me started on that ending. It hits you hard, leaving your mouth agape. THE SWITCH HOUSE is unrelenting. When it comes to indie horror, this book is in my top ten. If there’s one book you read this year, make it this one. THE SWITCH HOUSE is where it’s at!
