It’s been a while since I’ve read a horror comic book. This one is a most strange comic book series. The stories that make up this volume are scary, quirky, and supernatural. From the first page, you can sense the eeriness, which makes for an unsettling experience.
There’s so much suffering in this volume. You get a bad vibe from the ice cream man from the get-go, but the small town is filled with ominous vibes. The dread creeps in rather quickly with the town.
Death and decay are just a few themes that this comic touches on. This one looks at all kinds of different horrors–from the supernatural to the all too real everyday horrors that families face in America. It’s grungy. It’s gritty. It’s sweet as ice cream.
My skin crawled from time to time and my fear factor cracked up to ten. Not going to lie, I look forward to reading the other volumes in this series. The writing and the art compliment each other. Everything is solid with this one. I can’t wait to see where the arc goes from here.
