{Book Review} Desper Hollow by Elizabeth Massie

Desper Hollow is a fun, wild ride! Elizabeth Massie is a helluva a writer! The cover caught my eye, but the author kept me wanting to turn the page!

Something sinister is going on in Desper Hollow, Virginia. No one visits Desper Hollow. People avoid the place. Granny Mustard, the matriarch of a mountain moonshine family, decides to live forever.  Granny Mustard has concocted the very potent “immortality moonshine,” which turns people into zombies. Unfortunately, she dies and that is when things spiral out of control. Jenkie Mustard has zombies locked in her trailer and Jack Carroll, a Hollywood pitchman, wants to make a reality show featuring the zombies. I thought that was funny. I’ll stop there because I don’t want to give anything away.

The zombies are quick and pretty smart. The characters are unique. The Mustard family and the townsfolk are well developed. The writing is great and the story unfolds well. I enjoyed the ending too.  You have to watch out for those bright red eyes!

This is my first time reading Elizabeth Massie, but it won’t be my last!

I recommend this book to fans of horror and zombies!

4/5 red-eyed rotting zombies!
