The Girl Who Was Taken by Charlie Donlea

Thank you to Charlie Donlea, NetGalley, and Kensington Publishers for the advanced reader’s copy of The Girl Who Was Taken.

I read Summit Lake when it first came out last year. It is one of my favorite books of 2016! I knew this book wouldn’t disappoint either. With his second book, Charlie Donlea takes the reader on a non-stop thrill ride. The characters are oddly connected by missing loved ones. There are no clues. Gone without a trace.

Megan McDonald and Nicole Cutty are abducted. Megan McDonald slips from her captor’s clutches. She runs head-long into a deserted highway. She is rescued, but she is still haunted by her abduction. Megan has sessions with her psychiatrist, but she can’t remember anything about her abduction. No one knows what actually happened.

Dr. Livia Cutty is a forensic pathology fellow. She is also Nicole’s older sister. The author takes us through the world of forensics and pathology. As Dr. Cutty begins examining bodies, Casey’s (Nicole’s boyfriend) body arrives in the forensics lab. TDr. Cutty and Megan work together to find out what happened to Nicole. Can Megan and Cutty find Nicole? Can they handle the truth?

Charlie Donlea does a great job of hooking the reader early. The plot unfolds nicely and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The Girl Who Was Taken will have you reading late into the night. I didn’t see that ending coming!

I highly recommend this book to fans of thriller and suspense!

5/5 stars!
