{Book Review} Peekers by Kealan Patrick Burke

Kealan Patrick Burke has written one of the creepiest short stories I have ever read! This short story is about a man named Larry who is trying to enjoy his first day of retirement. Larry is annoyed that the kids next door insist on racing their dirt bikes through his yard. Zach (Larry’s eccentric neighbor) needs Larry’s help to verify something in his house. Larry reluctantly goes over to Zach’s house and verifies that Agnes (Zach’s wife) is peeking from the stairs. Is she really Zach’s wife or something far more evil and sinister?

I will never look at doorways or stairs the same again! I have read a ton of books, but nothing scarier than this short story. The amazing thing about his short-story is the fact that the author uses the concept of “less is more,” which elicits the reader’s imagination. You should not read this short-story at night. It is definitely one of the scariest stories I have ever read!

I highly recommend this short story to fans of horror!

5/5 stars!
