This book is about a young woman who commits fraud in order to survive. She gives men hand jobs and begs for money with her mother. The author doesn’t give the narrator’s name, which is interesting. The young woman runs into Susan, a rich woman, who thinks her house is haunted. The author leads you to choose between two stories. 1.) Is Susan crazy and is she going to kill her step-son along with the narrator? 2.) Is the step-son possessed and is the house haunted? Well, which is it? It is up to the reader to decide what they believe, but ultimately the narrator and the step-son end up enjoying the results. The story ends with the two of them running away to Chattanooga where there is a science fiction convention.
I highly recommend this book to fans of Gillian Flynn and to readers who like horror or suspense.
